E-mail and emailboth mean โelectronic mail.โ Both are acceptable, but โemailโ has become the more popular variant. However, some style guides and publications still prefer โe-mail.โ When deciding which one to use, follow any applicable guidelines and remain consistent throughout your writing.

I before e except after c is one of Englishโs most popular mnemonic spelling rules. However, while it applies to certain words, such as โreceive,โ โdeceive,โ and โconceit,โ it disregards a whole range of others, including โscience,โ โglacier,โ and โneighbor.โ
There are more English words that include โieโ rather than โeiโ (even after โcโ). Thus, strictly adhering to the โi before e except after cโ rule may cause more spelling mistakes than not.
